Making friends as a Mom- Hard?

Happy Monday sweet friends! I hope you all had a great weekend! I’m so excited to be talking to you guys about making friends as a Mom. You guys, making mom friends is HARD. I don’t know about others but for me it is SO hard to find mom friends.

I started my blog and Instagram to find mom friends when I first had Lily. I was lost in motherhood and I was deep in my postpartum depression. Little did I know I would meet moms just like me and now I call them my friends. Thanks Insta!

However, most of my mom friends that I’ve met via Instagram- we all live in different states. Sometimes I wish I could fly everyone on my pretend private jet and have play dates with all of you. So when we moved back to our current town I told myself I would make mom friends that I could chat with and just have play dates with. However, I still haven’t even made one friend. Wow, kind of sounds like I’m a loser but oh well. I’m being honest with you all lol.

If you have been following along with me for awhile you know I’m a silly weird mom who just loves coffee & Target trips. I’m actually very shy when I meet people at first but after we click I’m outgoing. I’ve tried to talk to other moms at the library and at the park and ya’ll It is SO HARD. They reply with polite replies but then go on with their own friends. Ouch. For some reason I feel like an outsider to these women. I mean really I just want to be like hey, are you a weird fun mom? Because I’m a weird fun mom and let’s be friends. Seriously, I’m saying it again. MAKING MOM FRIENDS IS HARD.

Do you guys ever feel this way? But I am not giving up hope because I have found some pretty weird amazing fun moms on Insta and I am hopeful to find a fellow weird fun mom that I can hang in person.

So if you ever feel like I’m feeling right now, it will be ok. You will find mom friends that you click with. But never, and I mean never doubt yourself or think that you will have to change yourself to be friends with someone. You will find your mom friends. I promise. You are enough.

Until then, who is with me on a coffee virtual mom date? LOL

Lynn

Omni Dallas Babymoon Heaven

Happy Thursday friends! I hope you all are doing great and having a great week so far. I can’t believe Christmas is in a 5 days! I am back with an exciting post with my favorite hotel: Omni Dallas.

Last week we went on a mini getaway for our babymoon/husband’s birthday. As soon as we pulled up to Omni Dallas we were instantly greeted with smiling faces. Every one is so kind and helpful. We stayed in the Luxury Corner Suite and you guys I was in literal heaven. It was so nice and the view was spectacular. If you followed along last week I was so excited about the bathroom! Yes, you heard me right. The bathroom was #bathroomgoals. With the view, the amazing room, & bathroom we didn’t leave the room besides a little shopping & food of course.

Omni surprised us with balloons, birthday cake, beer for the hubby, & sparkling cider for me in the room upon arrival. Y’all my heart was so full and happy ❤ Since we were on our babymoon our key was to relax. The atmosphere of the hotel was so inviting and relaxing.

Omni has 7 restaurants on property so you never have to leave for food! On our first night we ate at Black Ship Little Katana. (You guys know this is our fav. restaurant from our last visit that we had to visit again!) If you are looking for a fun, hip, yet relaxing restaurant this place is for you! We started off our meal with Toro & Yellowfin Sashimi as our appetizer. YOU GUYS. BEST SASHIMI EVER. I’m talking about melt in your mouth type of goodness. Our server Angel then brought out Wagyu Hot Rock. If you guys have never had Wagyu Hot Rock, be sure to order it next time because it is such a neat experience! This rock cooked our beef. Can you say mind blown?! For our main course, my husband and I both had the Miso Glazed Sea Bass and it was amazing as always! I highly recommend this! We had Mango Cheesecake and Mango Mochi for dessert and they were both delicious! If you are looking for some amazing asian food be sure to stop at Black Ship next time!

The next night we ate at Bob’s Steak & Chop House. I’ve never been to a steak house before and I was so amazed at the entire experience. The restaurant was dim so I already felt relaxed the moment I walked in. My husband and I both ordered Filet with Lobster and I know I’ve said this before, but YOU GUYS. I’m shouting because it was SO GOOD. Can we also stop and talk about the amazing dessert we had?! We had a small order of their brownie sundae with peanut butter icecream. Even the small order was HUGE so imagine what the regular order would look like! The dessert did not disappoint! If you are looking for a nice place to feast, this is your spot!

On our last morning we had brunch at Cafe Herrera and I think they make the BEST breakfast tacos I have ever tasted. They have many options for brunch but can we also stop and talk about their chips and salsa? (Also, the best I have ever tasted.) If you are looking for a great brunch spot on a Saturday morning- Cafe Herrera is your place!

Our stay at Omni was amazing as always. Since we stayed during the holiday season they it beautifully decorated for Christmas. Did I mention Omni has the best lighting for pictures? 😉 #letmetakeaselfie. Omni Dallas is the most perfect place to getaway and relax. We didn’t try out the spa this time but I have heard such AMAZING things. Be sure to book a massage next time you are staying at Omni! It was so nice to unwind and relax in our room. I loved the soaking tub as well. When my husband and I left, we felt so relaxed and didn’t want to leave. I can’t wait for our next trip back!

If you want a relaxing getaway, family getaway, etc. be sure to stay at Omni Dallas. We have stayed once with a family getaway and now with just a babymoon and it is my favorite hotel for all of the things!

Thank you Omni Dallas for having us! We can’t wait to come back!

What’s in my Fawn Design Toddler Edition

Happy Friday friends! I am so excited to be sharing with you my new Fawn Design bag. I have always been a big fan of Fawn Design and have loved the quality of their bags. I own almost every single color, I guess you could say I have an obsession.

Recently Fawn Design has launched their new version of the Original and I am LIVING for these new changes. The Fawn Design bag has 12 pockets: 6 inside and 6 out. It is also made with faux leather which makes it super easy to clean up! My new favorite part of the bag is the grab handle. It makes it so easy to just grab the bag by the handle and just run out the door! They also made the side pockets bigger and don’t worry guys, I have tested out the pockets to see if a Starbucks cup fits and it does. 😉

Another feature they have changed is a hidden zip pocket in the back of the bag and also a large snap pocket that if you wanted to hide the straps you can detach and store the straps in the pocket.

With Lily being almost 2 1/2 I don’t have to carry much but if we are heading out of town of course I have to pack more for her and this bag fits ALL OF THE THINGS! I’m going to be a mom of 2 soon and this bag has a TON of room for both babes.

Here is a sneak peak in what’s in my diaper bag:

I love versatile my Fawn Design bag is! You need this bag in your life! Head to https://fawndesign.com and check them out!

Hugs,

Lynn

Holidays & Your Mental Health + update

Hello friends! Happy Monday! It has been quite awhile since I have posted on here but if you follow me on Instagram I’ve been very active on there. I have had a few questions about how my anxiety and depression and have been and I wanted to give you all an update. You all are so sweet to be checking in on me and I truly love this community.

I’m currently almost 10 weeks pregnant and officially went off on my anxiety & depression medication. With the help of my doctor I slowly and safely went off of it because I felt ready for it. Now my doctor did say since I was on a low dosage it would be safe to be on it during pregnancy but I personally just wanted to be off of it. So far I have been ok. I of course still get my moments where I feel overwhelmed or depressed but it is a lot better than it has been from when I first started. I will always battle with this for the rest of my life and that is ok. I am worried after having this baby that my depression and anxiety will get worse since I did have ppd/ppa but I feel that I am aware of the signs this time around and have the resources I need to get through it.

It is officially the Holiday Season and I wanted to talk to you all about Mental Health + Holidays. Lets face it, Holidays are STRESSFUL. If you know me, then you know that we travel often to both sides of the family on each holiday and it is A LOT. Last year I was very stressed out during the holiday season like I always am, but a lot of you had messaged me on Instagram telling me to take care of myself and to take it easy. To CANCEL for my health. Well friends, we are at that time. After dealing with mental health and wanting to be the best mom & wife I can be, I have decided to say no more. I sat down one day thinking about all the things that trigger my anxiety and depression and now I try to avoid all of those triggers the best I can. What good am I if I’m purposely putting myself in a situation that will trigger myself to shut down and feel out of control. That does my husband know good or my daughter.

I am getting rid of all stressful triggers and that includes being around certain people. My family means everything to me and I want to be HAPPY during this holiday season and to do that I have to take care of myself and my mental health. Unfortunately, I have already had to tell someone that we are no longer participating in those functions and maybe I shouldn’t be writing this but the thing is with my blog and my followers I have always been open and honest. I have never been ashamed to tell anyone of my body image issues, or my mental health so I feel strongly that if someone is out there feeling how I’m feeling and this helps them, then I am happy.

You can’t please everyone. That’s something my parents always taught me. So with this holiday season we are taking it easy and doing what makes us happy. Let me tell you, my anxiety level has gone down and I couldn’t be happier.

To anyone out there that feels overwhelmed with anxiety or depression, you are not alone. It does get better. It will always be a battle but know that there are others out there going through the same thing and I’m always here with open arms. Remember to take care of yourself & your mental health in this holiday season.

Hugs,

Lynn

Current Favorites I’ve Been Loving

Happy Tuesday sweet friends! I’m so excited to be sharing with you our current favorites that we’ve been loving! (We as in Lily & I) As I was shooting photos of some of my current favorites- Lily wanted to add in some of her favorites too! 🙂

1.) Living Proof Full Dry Volume Blast: This has been one of my new favorite products! If you have been following along with me for awhile you know that I am OBSESSED with their dry shampoo! I love to use this to create volume and give my hair some texture. Especially when my hair is clean it is a little difficult to style it so I go ahead and give this a little spray! Living Proof

2.) Makeup Revolution Full Coverage Concealer: I absolutely love this! I love Tarte Shape Tape and I swear this is a dupe for it! It is affordable as well! You can’t go wrong with a good dupe! Makeup Revolution

3.) Evian Facial Spray: I use this as my setting spray to set my make up. If I need to freshen my make up I will also give this a quick spray as well! Even if I’m not wearing make up I will use this to just refresh my skin! Evian Facial Spray

4.) Blush Pink Adidas NMD R1: Can we just stop and just admire this blush pink color? Gives me all the heart eyes! Luke got this for my birthday and I am SO in love with them! Not only are they cute but they are SO comfortable! They run a half size big so I would recommend going down half a size. Women’s Adidas NMD r1

5.) London Littles Darling Pink Rain Boots: Lily is OBSESSED with her new London Littles! (Thank you London Littles for sending these to Lily!) We love London Littles because they are comfortable and so cute! Lily sometimes refuses to take them off! London Littles

6.) Stella Bella Bows: If you followed along on Instagram I talked about Stella Bella Bows. I love for every box purchased they give back bows to a child in need. I love opening up the mail and seeing what bows we receive each month! (Left- October bows Right- September Bows) They come in two styles- alligator clips (shown) and headbands as well! (Thank you Stella Bella Bows for sending us these) Stella Bella Bows

7.) Peppa Pig Mini Dolls: Lily loves her Peppa Pig dolls because they are small so she can hold them in her hands easily. It is SO cute seeing her play with her dolls and use her imagination. She even uses different voices for each character. LOL Peppa Pig dolls

I hope you all have a great week!

Top 3 places to Visit in Dallas

Happy Thursday friends! I’m having post vacation blues this week but we are already planning our next trip back to Dallas. Today I’m going to be sharing with you my top 3 places to Visit in Dallas which are all kid friendly!

1.) Reunion Tower

  • 360 degree panoramic views of downtown Dallas
  • Observation deck indoor & outdoor
  • interactive touch screens
  • photo booth
    • We loved visiting Reunion Tower. I’m a little scared of heights but once we got up to the top the views were just breathtaking. Lily loved playing with the interactive touch screens. There is a cafe and restaurant at the top as well to enjoy.

2.) Perot Museum of Nature & Science

  • Children’s museum
  • Dinosaur exhibit
  • Many different permanent exhibits
  • Activity stations
  • Outdoor play area
    • The Perot Museum of Nature and Science is unlike any museum we have ever seen. It was absolutely amazing. You could literally spend hours there. Our favorite part of the museum was the Children’s Museum area. Lily had so much fun playing with the other children and with all of the toys. There is so much to do for all ages!

3.) North Park Center

  • I prefer the NorthPark Center mall over the Galleria. We had the best experience shopping at NorthPark and I shopped until I dropped! They have every store you could ever want to shop at and I loved how nice everyone was. If you love Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Nordstrom, etc this place is for you!

What are your top places to visit in Dallas?

Omni Dallas Weekend Getaway

Happy Tuesday babes!

This past weekend Luke, Lily, and I went on a family getaway to Dallas, Texas. Sometimes you just need to getaway and relax and recharge! Before we had Lily, we would visit Dallas often so going back with her for the first time was so special. When we finally made it to Dallas we checked into the Omni Dallas. Let me tell you guys that from the moment we pulled up everything just kept getting better. Everything from the room, the service, the restaurants, the hotel itself was AMAZING.

After we checked in we headed up to our room with our bellhop that was so kind! When I unlocked the door, YOU GUYS I was speechless. We stayed in a 1 Bedroom Executive suite on the 14th floor and the views were absolutely spectacular. As a family traveling it is so important to find a hotel that would work with our routine. Having a separate bedroom and living room area is a must have for our family. If Lily can see us from her pack n play then she will not sleep which = parents won’t sleep either. That’s why I love that Omni Dallas has different types of rooms. The beds are so comfortable and we have never slept better. Seriously.

On Saturday we had breakfast at Omni’s Texas Spice which is located in the lobby of the hotel. The vibe of the restaurant was so inviting. I absolutely fell in love with all of the decor. Texas Spice’s breakfast was the best breakfast I have ever had hands down! They offer a variety of breakfast options or you can choose to try their breakfast buffet as well. Lily even got her very own cup with Omni Kids Club on it that she got to take home with her to reuse! After our amazing breakfast we headed out to explore Dallas.

After all of our exploring we returned to the Omni to relax and explore more of our hotel. We headed to the infinity pool to enjoy the views of downtown. The pool area is so beautiful and the views are amazing! After some relaxing time, it was time for our dinner reservation at Black Ship Little Katana which is also located on the property. You guys, Oh My Word. Dinner was SO GOOD. I’m talking about, this is what must heaven feel like type of good food. My husband ordered the Ahi Tuna and I ordered the Chilean sea bass. Oh. My. Word. AMAZING. I’m telling you guys you need to try both of our dishes. We ordered Lily a side of rice and some grilled veggies and our waiter was so kind to let us know that the veggies they usually grill wouldn’t be as kid friendly. So they whipped up Lily her own asparagus and green bean mix to go with her rice. It was SO kind and so appreciated. (Lily loved it!)

We ended our dinner with the most amazing Creme Brulee and Green tea icecream. It was so delicious! After dinner we headed on another adventure and ended up returning to the hotel a little early to relax and cuddle on the couch.

Our stay was such a DREAM. I know in my post I have repeatedly said that everything was amazing but it truly was that, amazing. Our experience was spectacular and we can’t wait to come visit again! If you are looking for a family friendly hotel for a family vacation, Omni Dallas is the perfect place for you. If you are having a girls weekend, romantic getway, etc. Omni Dallas is perfect for you as well! The next time you are in Dallas be sure to stay at Omni Dallas.

Thank you Omni Dallas for hosting us this weekend! We can’t wait to come back.

Disclosure: We were hosted however this is 100% my honest review.
